Specialized Histology- Animal Models and Pharmacology

The histology laboratory at CBI provides histopathologic support for a wide range of common and uncommon animal models which are important in all stages from early discovery to endstage development.  Additionally, our Pharmacology Department can conduct the in life phase of most of the models as well.

The laboratory offers specialized histopathology including special and immunohistochemical staining in the  following areas:

• Ocular, Retinopathy of Prematurity, Laser-induced macular degeneration
• Angiogenesis and neovascularization
• Arthritis – Collagen, adjuvant, osteoarthritis
• Angioplasty – restenosis and neointimal proliferation
• Paigen gelatin technique for heart and aorta
• Atherosclerosis
• Myocardial and Cerebral infarction
• Brain mapping and whole brain sectioning

• Tissue cross reactivity studies with human and animal tissues
