CBI offers a variety of preclinical ophthalmic pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and biodistribution study capabilities. Ophthalmologic pharmacokinetics are key to selecting early compounds or chemical structures for further assessment as well as assessing candidates for advancement into man. Assessment and analysis modalities are fine-tuned to meet the specific requirements demanded in each targeted area of ophthalmologic pharmacokinetic investigation.

CBI is versed in ocular pharmacokinetic studies employing stem cells, contact lens (medicated), punctal plugs, as well as other surgically implanted ocular and intraocular devices.

Formulations: Small molecule, biologic, eye drop, ointment or gel, insert, particle, implant, patch, microspheres, cream, other. Radiolabeled studies are also available.

Routes of Administration: Ocular application, intravitreal injection, subconjunctival injection, periocular injection, intracameral, subretinal, intrascleral, trans-scleral, intrastromal, subtenon, retrobulbar, intracameral, implant or device, systemic routes. Additional routes also include contact lens, punctal plus and other implanted devices.

Species: Rabbits (NZW or pigmented) guinea pigs, rats, mice, minipigs, dogs, ferrets

  • In Vivo: Vitreous, aqueous, blood, tears, urine, feces
  • Necropsy: Microdissection: eyelids, palpebral or bulbar conjunctiva, nictitating membrane, extra ocular muscles, lacrimal gland, Harderian gland, nasal lacrimal duct, cornea, iris, ciliary body, lens, vitreous, retina, choroid, sclera, optic nerve
