Scientist - Immunohistochemisty
Comparative Biosciences, Inc. is seeking to recruit a Scientist - IHC to conduct immunohistochemical studies. The ideal candidate will possess the technical expertise to function effectively in a GLP histology laboratory and drug development environment, supporting study directors by implementing and coordinating biomedical R&D studies and meeting study specific timelines. The right candidate needs to possess good problem solving skills, a good understanding of study techniques, and excellent planning and communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities
The capability to develop, optimize and validate new staining techniques primarily with novel monoclonals and biologics as well as conducting studies using routine commercial antibodies.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 0-5 years experience working in a pharmaceutical, biotech or contract research organization, preferably in immunohistochemistry
- Knowledge of and ability to use major histology and immunohistochemical tools and equipment.
- Excellent scientific skills. GLP experience. Detail oriented
- Experienced in working in a matrix operation with managers, study directors and pathologists
- Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat
- Education: MS degree in a biological sciences field at a minimum
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: 2 or more years of experience conducting immunohistocehemical studies in GLP and non-GLP environments
- PhD degree in a biological sciences field

Supervisor, Histology Laboratory
Comparative Biosciences is seeking to recruit an individual to supervise our histology laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess both the technical expertise to perform all histology operations and the supervisory skills necessary to enhance and maintain the excellent performance of the laboratory personnel. The individual must have excellent communications skills and knowledge of SOPs, GLPs and other applicable regulations. Our candidate will be a self –starter and a problem solver.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee a medium sized histology laboratory processing animal tissues from wets to completed slides, including paraffin, frozen and plastic preparations in a GLP environment. Work is overseen or facilitated by Comparative Biosciences, Inc. senior management.
- Supervise and perform relevant procedures, including trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining tissues, including plastic and immunohistochemistry.
- Sophisticated and comprehensive knowledge of all processes, equipment, and procedures in a histology laboratory.
- Conduct comprehensive scheduling and coordination of operations.
- Communicate with clients concerning new studies and studies in progress.
- Ensure that laboratory and employees are in compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and other applicable regulations.
- Train and oversee employees in histology procedures and operation of equipment.
- Prepare SOPs, reports and regulatory documents; comprehensive understanding of GLPs.
- Perform any other tasks required by the lab, as qualified by training and experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree (Advanced degree preferred). Five years of laboratory work experience including GLP and animal tissue work. Three years experience in the supervision and training of laboratory personnel. Ability to perform in a matrix organization.
Histotechnologist
We are seeking an individual with industry experience. The ideal candidate will be certified and possess the technical expertise to function effectively in a GLP Histology Laboratory.
Primary responsibilities
- Performs routine animal histopathology procedures including trimming, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining tissues.
- Provides training to other employees in Histology procedures mastered.
- Provides routine lab support including purchasing of supplies, organizing the laboratory, maintaining equipment, and inventory.
- Maintains study records to ensure compliance with GLPs and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- May perform specialized histology procedures including cryotomy, bone decalcification, quality control, special stains and immunohistochemistry.
- Maintains equipment and performs troubleshooting.
- Safely handles chemicals, distinguishing between waste and recyclable materials.
- Comply with all applicable SOPs, GLPs, and other regulations.
- Provides support to other areas of CBI as qualified by training and/or experience.
Required Qualifications
Typically requires at least 2 years of technical training and experience in histotechnology. High School Diploma or AA/AS required
Preferred Qualifications
Certification and 3 years of technical training and experience in histotechnology.
